RENO, Nev., Jan. 21 -- GameTech International, Inc., a leading supplier of electronic bingo equipment, announced that contracts have been signed with two Alabama racetracks -- the Greenetrack Greyhound Racing facility in Greene County ("Greenetrack") and VictoryLand Greyhound Track in Shorter ("VictoryLand"). The contracts call for installation of GameTech's TED(2)C(TM) color portable electronic bingo terminals, as well as fixed base bingo terminals. The fixed base terminals will include both traditional bingo and the Company's fast-action, credit-based bingo feature, Pay-N-Play(TM).
The GameTech contracts are among the first since Alabama voters approved two
constitutional amendments in November authorizing operation of high stakes bingo
games at racetracks, or "racinos," for the benefit of nonprofit organizations
for charitable purposes. GameTech terminals were installed and available for
customer use at Greenetrack on January 5 and are expected to be in use at
VictoryLand by early February.
Clarence H. Thiesen, CEO of GameTech, commented on the contracts, "We are
pleased to have the opportunity to work with Greenetrack and VictoryLand to
demonstrate how racinos can be an excellent venue for charitable bingo,
providing a needed boost for charities, increased traffic for the racetracks and
a new opportunity for customers to enjoy GameTech's exciting electronic bingo
entertainment. Our success in Alabama will be closely watched as other states
consider racino legislation, which we believe will prove a win-win for all."
