GameTech Fixed-base Units Cleared for Nevada Play

RENO, Nev., Dec. 18 -- GameTech International, Inc., a leading supplier of electronic bingo equipment, announced today that the Nevada Gaming Control Board has concluded its investigation and cleared for play all of the Company's fixed- base electronic bingo units in Nevada. According to Company officials, a former GameTech employee acted alone outside the scope of his employment when he illegally modified the Company's fixed-base electronic bingo units in Nevada in order to inappropriately obtain bingo winnings. GameTech agreed to shut down its electronic bingo units in late September as a precautionary measure after the former GameTech employee's illegal activities were discovered. The Company's portable units, which make up the vast majority of its products in Nevada, were returned to play within a few days of the shut down; however, the Company's fixed-base units in Nevada remained inactive while gaming officials completed an investigation into the incident.

We are pleased to put this incident behind us and concentrate fully on addressing the needs of our customers," said Clarence H. Thiesen, GameTech CEO. "All of our products are now back in operation throughout the U.S. We thank the Nevada Gaming Control Board and our customers for their cooperation and patience as we have worked through this difficult situation. We have emerged a stronger company due to the evaluation of, and improvements to, the security of our systems."
