RENO, Nev., May 29 GameTech International, Inc., a leading
supplier of electronic bingo equipment, today announced that John B. Furman of
Scottsdale, Arizona, has been appointed to its Board of Directors. Furman is the
former CEO of Rural Metro Corporation and is a current Director for MarineMax,
Inc., H.E.R.C. Products, Incorporated and Plan Express, Inc., a privately held
company.
The announcement was made by GameTech Chief Executive Officer, Clarence Thiesen,
who stated, "We are pleased to welcome John Furman to our Board of Directors.
His years of experience in leading, directing and consulting with
customer-focused businesses will provide great insight to our Board and
GameTech. John was successful in leading Rural Metro during a period of
tremendous growth and has experience working in numerous communities as well as
abroad, all of which will be extremely helpful as GameTech continues to grow. "
Furman, who holds a law degree from University of Connecticut School of Law, was
engaged in the private practice of law for 15 years with a 135-lawyer Phoenix
firm where he led the Business Law and Financial Services practice group. Furman
also served as Associate General Counsel for Waste Management, Inc. and Vice
President, Secretary and General Counsel for Warner Company.
Thiesen also announced that Gerald R. Novotny, Sr. resigned from the Board to
pursue other interests, effective May 20, 2003. "Gerald has served GameTech well
in his years as a Director," said Thiesen. "We wish him well in his future
endeavors."
